Next Step Beginners: Pick your projects

Is this workshop for me?

If you're new to sewing and have some basic sewing machine experience then yes! This workshop will give you a brief recap of how to set up and use a sewing machine (for a full introduction to the sewing machine find our Beginners workshop here). This is also the perfect workshop for someone feeling a little rusty on the sewing machine and would like a little kick-start to re-ignite their passion for sewing.

This workshop will allow you to pick 2 projects (see list below) to further your sewing skills, depending on what takes your fancy!

What will this workshop cover?

- A brief re-cap on setting up the sewing machine, including winding the bobbin, setting up the machine and basic stitches.

- Then pick 2 projects from the list below, depending on which skills you'd like develop:

Bunting: working with a rotary cutter, measuring and marking fabric, creating a sharp point, working with bias binding.

Bits and Bobs Box: pinning and cutting out and using a pattern, working with wadding, adding lining, creating boxed corners.

Basic Cushion: pinning and cutting out using a pattern, pressing and creating hems to create envelope cushion.

Oilcloth Wash Bag: working with a new fabric, inserting a simple zip, creating boxed out corners.

Pocket Purse: adding and using interfacing/fabric stiffener, inserting a simple zip, creating boxed out base.

This workshop is your opportunity to really build confidence and learn new skills on the sewing machine, with the opportunity to ask questions under the watchful eye of your tutor.

What's included in this workshop?
